Creativity Thoughts -
Because I have recently discovered
quilting, and textile arts, I have been amazed at how much I love the
texture, look and feel of fabrics and various embellishments. I have
searched the web and have found a whole new fascinating world of
artistic people. I trained and worked in America as a CPA (Certified
Public Accountant) for almost 14 years. I loved my work and loved the
creative aspects of accounting (believe it or not, there is a lot of
creativity and imagination required to be a good accountant). But, I
always felt that I wanted to utilized more creative outlets to express
myself. I was shocked when I found it in quilting.
I believe that I had suppressed the
creative part of my 'true' self as I always needed to do a job with
initials, and definitely something that guaranteed gainful employment.
Although I might have suppressed this creative aspect, it always found a
way out through home decorating. I love to decorate, and really have
enjoyed decorating my home. I think that is one reason I love to move so
often. Each time is almost a clean slate, and I can work to make the
house appealing and desirable to live in.
When I found that we had this opportunity
to move overseas, I jumped at the chance. This was the perfect
opportunity to discover the artistic venture I longed for. I began
by taking a drawing / painting course from a Russian art teacher. I was
surprised at what I was able to do when I never considered myself an
artist before. Then, by chance, a friend convinced me to come to a
beginner's quilting course. I did, and discovered that I love working
with fabric. I named this website, Quilting Artistry as this is the
direction I aspire to grow to. I want to create artistic quilts
utilizing new and creative methods of quilt design and quilt making.
