This lamp is a lot of fun to make! The pattern is wild, and you can't
make any mistakes! I made
this
lamp with the fabric's I used for my daughter's quilt. It has a
delightful beading, and embroidery work that allows light to peak
through where it has been embroidered. Of course you must be
careful when using electrical lighting Be sure to use bulbs that are a
low wattage. Enjoy the process, this is a great fun project!

Begin by wrapping the lamp in muslin. Note that as you roll the lamp on the muslin, it is not a straight line because of the sloping sides on the lamp shade. |
Verify once the fabric has been cut that it fits the lamp properly. I always make sure that my two sides overlap by at least an inch. At the base of the lamp there should be 1/2 inch to 1 inch. |
Next - lay out your fabrics in a pattern that appears pleasing. The exact layout may differ slightly as you stitch the fabrics onto the muslin. |
Sew your first piece of fabric. With a crazy quilting project it is best to start with your center fabric. I usually fussy cut this piece to get whatever I want in the center. |
Stitch the next pieces of fabric. You turn the fabric so the two right sides are together, and stitch along one side. Then flip the fabric, and place the next fabric so it hides the seam. |
As you build your layout of fabrics. Trim the edges close to the seams. With the light on, you will see the fabrics underneath if they aren't trimmed close to the seams. |
Review your layout as you are sewing it on. You can make adjustments! |
For some pieces, you may have to fold down two sides, and begin some of your embroidery, or satin stitching on an edge to attach it to the fabric. |

Begin couching decorative yarns to the fabric. Do not feel constrained to follow seams. I did on this lamp, but often I will make big swirls or patterns. |
Begin to glue the edges of the lamp shade and carefully laying your fabric on the shade. |
Trim the edges of the fabric close to the lamp shade edge. Then glue the decorative tasseling to the edge. |
Complete gluing the tassel to the upper and lower edges. |
Your finished project! Enjoy! |
